Trump Administration Responds To Threats From North Korea

…– recently fired four ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan.

According to reports, this was North Korea’s way of expressing dissatisfaction with joint drills between the U.S. and South Korea. North Korea also wanted to show that it could strike U.S. bases in Japan. The United Nations condemned this, but as we all know, that’s basically meaningless.

President Trump warned North Korea of the “dire consequences” it would face if it continued to show such aggression. What’s more, a U.S. military official told the Korean Times that the U.S. could send over B-52 and B-1B strategic bombers to participate in a joint drill with South Korea.

US Secretary of Defense James Mattis spoke on the phone to his opposite number in South Korea, Han Min-koo, and said Washington remained ‘steadfast in its commitment’ to Seoul.

 

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said: ‘He further emphasized that any attack on the United States or its allies will be defeated, and any use of nuclear weapons will be met with a response that is effective and overwhelming.’

 

In a phone call, Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe warned that the threat from North Korea had ‘entered a new stage.’
