Keep it classy, New York City.
(Why do people love that city so much? I will never understand…)
Yesterday, Trump Tower in New York had to be partially evacuated after a suspicious package was found in the lobby. Emergency crews responded to the situation and determined that it was a false alarm. The package was actually a box of children’s toys. Everyone was safe and things went back to normal.
After the NYPD gave the all-clear, incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer tweeted his thanks to the emergency crews who responded to a situation that could very well have been a lot worse than it was –
Back to work here at Trump Tower after a false alarm. Thanks NYPD

To which one spokesman for Mayor Bill de Blasio oh-so-magnanimously responded –
No problem. We’ll send you the bill. https://t.co/mxbUqzgHds

Seriously, dude? You couldn’t just say “No problem – happy no one was hurt” or something like that? You had to say something snarky and stupid?
What. A. Tool.
Let’s play a little game here for a minute – let’s say Hillary Clinton was President-Elect (don’t worry, we’ll come back to reality soon enough) and her team was working in their Brooklyn HQ and something like this had happened. After they got the all-clear and one of her staffers tweeted thanks to the city for responding to an emergency situation, do you honestly think someone from de Blasio’s office would be that much of a jerk about it?
Probably not. They’d be falling over themselves to say how grateful they are to be of service to the Queen and it was their pleasure to keep their beloved Hillary safe and how dare those sexist alt-right extremists try to harm the glorious sainted Queen Goddess President Hillary!
Tell me that’s not exactly what would happen.
But Trump is President-Elect and Bill de Blasio’s office doesn’t think they should even be a little bit polite to his team. Even though Donald Trump has done a TON for New York City’s economy throughout the years. Everything is political to the left.
That’s fine. They can hold onto their childish little attitudes – it’ll make 2020 that much more entertaining.
