OK, last one. Here we go.
There’s an Instagram account dedicated to challenging social media’s censorship of female nipples. This is what people worried about, I guess. It was founded by Morgan-Lee Wagner, Evelyne Wyss and Marco Russo and features nothing but close up images of nipples. The point? You don’t know if they’re moobs or boobs, which is exactly the point they’re trying to make.
“Men are allowed to show their nipples, women’s get banned,” the account’s bio reads. “Support ALL genders! Let’s change this policy! For Press & nipple donations:[email protected].”
Nipple donations. Really?
Anyway, here come the pictures. You’ve been warned.
I think you get the point.
“We receive many emails with nipples of people who want to contribute,” they say. “The comments are very interesting as well, people are discussing with each other, it sparks a conversation and that’s exactly what we want. Get people to talk and think about it. And hopefully Instagram itself too.”
Listen, I get the point they’re trying to make, but I don’t feel oppressed by society. I want to cover my breasts and not because the patriarchy requires me to. Bras are not oppressing me. I don’t need to walk around topless in order to feel truly liberated. That’s trashy and gross.
Perhaps I’m in the minority here, but I can’t take the #FreeTheNipple kooks seriously. We have so much more to worry about.
