Earlier today, President-elect Trump sent out a tweet, criticizing Boeing’s contract for Air Force One. Boeing won the contract to replace the two 747-200 planes with 747-8s. The original contract was worth $25.8 million, but the Air Force planned on spending as much as $1.65 billion to replace the jets. That being said, Trump believes they’re ripping everyone off.
Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order!

Boeing has responded and released the following statement:
“We are currently under contract for $170 million to help determine the capabilities of these complex military aircraft that serve the unique requirements of the President of the United States. We look forward to working with the U.S. Air Force on subsequent phases of the program allowing us to deliver the best planes for the President at the best value for the American taxpayer.”
Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I’m glad Trump’s talking about this. We want him to weed out the waste and negotiate for better deals. This is no different.
