‘Feminist’ Snow-Plowing Disrupts Traffic And Normal Life For People In Sweden

How is plowing the roads after a snowstorm a feminist issue? HOW?

(And, no, this ISN’T a hoax. It sounds ridiculous, but this actually happened. I checked several times. And I weep for the world.)

According to this, progressives in Sweden decided to stop using old routes and techniques of plowing snowy roads, and instead focus on plowing roads and walkways more commonly used by women first, and then focus on the roads used by everybody else. I don’t know why this came up – apparently they didn’t think that “everybody else” included women as well (like, do women not have jobs that they have to commute to every morning?)

They even released a PSA video (it’s in Swedish, but you can get the point well-enough) that illustrates the idea behind feminist snow-removal. Well, that’s what it’s supposed to do. All I understand from this is that women in Sweden apparently don’t drive cars –

Anyway, this “feminist snow-plowing” system basically stopped all normal flow of traffic in Stockholm the very first day that it was tried. Stockholm was slammed with a huge snowstorm last week and scenes like this were commonplace –

And according to this Swedish news outlet, the feminist snow removal plan was a complete “fiasco” (note: I love that the Swedish translation of that is “fiasko”). Traffic was backed up and injuries reported at hospitals skyrocketed. Even a week later, they are still having problems. Public transportation users have threatened to sue the government. This in spite of the fact that there was a $27,000 increase in the budget to make the new plan work.

Even the walkways that were supposed to have been cleared first weren’t very well cleared at all. Which means that they failed in their original goal!

And it’s not like this is Miami that got hit with a freak snowstorm and they were ill-equipped to deal with it in the first place because it never snows there. This is freaking Sweden. Snow is a national pastime there. It’s winter most of the year. They know how to handle snowstorms.

But that was before liberal feminists got involved and insisted that snow removal was sexist (or whatever) and demanded that the snow-removal crews cater to their whims first, leaving commuters behind to fend for themselves.

I don’t know when the left is going to figure out that there are no issues that only belong to women. The weather is one of those things that affects everybody. Plowing (or not plowing) certain roads and walkways is NOT a gendered issue. Why scrap something that has been used for years and works just great, all because a bunch of whiny feminists might have to walk around a snowdrift on the sidewalk?

Just further proving that anything feminism touches turns to crap.
