ABC/WaPo Poll: Trump And Clinton “Even Up”

According to a new poll, Trump and Clinton are separated by one point, y’all.  One little itty bitty point.

Now, if you’ve been here awhile, you know I’m not a big fan of polls.  I just don’t think they’re that indicative of, well, anything.  I think that in 2012, we saw Romney doing well in polls, and look what happened.  I ended up with a killer hangover on November 7th.  That’s what happened.

Anywho, what matters in THIS election – according to this poll – is the third party candidates, because of the slim margin.

The race stands at 46-45 percent, Clinton-Trump, in the latest results, so tight that the draw by third-party candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein could matter. Clinton, +1 vs. Trump in a fourway trial heat, is +3 head-to-head – not a significant difference, but suggestive.

Right about now, Johnson and Stein are like….

Anywho, as for Last Friday’s ADDITIONAL revelations about what a criminal hosebeast Clinton is:

About a third of likely voters say they’re less likely to support Clinton given FBI Director James Comey’s disclosure Friday that the bureau is investigating more emails related to its probe of Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state. Given other considerations, 63 percent say it makes no difference.

 

Those who say the issue makes them less apt to back Clinton overwhelmingly back Trump in the first place. But what’s key in a close contest is whether the disclosure give Trump supporters further motivation to turn out for him – and whether it demotivates reluctant Clinton backers.

The thing is, only about seven percent of Clinton supporters are concerned about her emails at all, so there’s that tidbit.

I don’t know, y’all.  I have a very healthy respect for data, but when it comes to polls, they’re like bad boyfriends. They’ve let me down so many times in the past that I’m savvy enough to know when to do a hair flip, walk the other way, and not give them second – or fifth – chances.

At this point in the game, I’ve personally moved on and just want to wait and see what happens on election day.  I’m not getting my hopes up either way, and I’m not going to white-knuckle this.  It is what it is.  We might as well just grab a beer and some popcorn and sit back and enjoy the ride at this point.  Because this election has been downright whiplash-inducing.
