On one end of the social commentary spectrum, we have disgusting feminists who think parading around naked is somehow empowering to women. On the other end of the spectrum, we have people like this goober.
A letter to the editor ran in the IndyStar (but this could have been printed in any newspaper in the country, to be honest). The letter complains about a photograph that was used in a front-page story in the Sports section of the USA Olympic women’s gymnastics team in Rio celebrating their gold medal win.
First, here’s the picture –
And here’s the letter –
What is happening to the Evansville Courier & Press?
It was sinful and disgusting to see the front page of Sports (on Aug. 10, with a picture of the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team celebrating its gold medal at the Olympics). Why not just get a nasty copy of Playboy? Where are your morals?
This photo needs a page by itself marked x-rated.
Jim Kline, Ferdinand
X-rated? Is this guy FOR REAL? Who looks at a picture of a group of female athletes celebrating their success and think that it’s pornographic? Because gymnasts wear form-fitting uniforms that sometimes have the unfortunate tendency to ride up in places that the athletes probably wish they didn’t?
WHO THE FRACK CARES? These ladies just achieved something that very few people could even DREAM of achieving. Who looks at an athlete’s uniform and think that it’s “sinful” or belongs in a Playboy? What kind of dirty mind are we dealing with here?
I might advise Mr. Kline not to watch the diving competition. Or follow the Polish cycling team. THAT’S an attack of the vapors just waiting to happen.
(Side Note: For once, I’m glad this letter wasn’t in a Utah newspaper. This is EXACTLY the kind of embarrassing and moronic crap that some of my fellow Utahns sometimes write. I’m pretty sure the editors choose the most bizarre and ranty letters to print, just so they have something to make fun of while simultaneously making the rest of us wish these letter-writers would stop “helping”.)
