As someone who studied slam poetry in college – this is absolutely terrible (not that slam poetry is that great to begin with anyway). Never thought anyone could make the word “orgasm” sound so pretentious and elitist. And that’s before we get to the conflicting messages presented here – is it a good thing to be a slut? Or are you tired of being seen as a sexual object? Aren’t you more than a walking life support system for your boobs and butt? Or are you so empowered and free that you want everyone to see every part of your body – boobs, butt, vagina, uterus – and even have the government pay for your carefree sexytimes?
Feminism’s greatest conundrum, right there.
Here’s an idea – how about feminists quit telling women to be so obsessed with being sexualized? How about we quit acting like the only thing there is to life is your next sexual conquest? Or being the next sexual conquest? Feminism complains that women are sexually objectified too often – but then they go and talk about how crucial it is for them to get that glorious sexual pleasure that so often eludes them. Like, are they going to die without it or something?
No wonder women are confused about their sexuality. And, honestly, I don’t think it’s those EEEEEEEVIL patriarchal men sending the confusing messages, either.
