I seriously can’t with all of this period stuff.
According to that sourcelink, some 16-year old chick is being hailed as some sort of heroine for being angry that people would assume she’d be embarrassed by the fact that she had a menstrual bloodstain on her pants. Because – you guessed it – helping a chick hide a giant bloodstain is PERIOD SHAMING, y’all.
I came home today at four minutes past nine after a long walk, a metro journey and a 10 minute bus ride. There’s…

So yeah. 16-year-old Anushka Dasgupta is determined to end the PERIOD SHAMING CULTURE we have. Because obviously, we should all just free-bleed. I mean, it’s totally natural, right? So of course we should just freely bleed and stain our clothes and not have anyone say anything about it because how dare they?
Anushka insists she is not ashamed of her period, and you guys, I agree with her that she shouldn’t be. But that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be interested in having some basic FREAKING HYGIENE.
This whole post of hers just defies common sense. Humans urinate and defecate every day, and should have no shame about that. It’s perfectly normal. But we all take reasonable steps to not do those things ON OUR OWN CLOTHING. And if for some reason you have terrible aim or some other weird problem, and you somehow soil yourself, it’s actually pretty reasonable (and kind, even) for a fellow human to inform you of your mess, and help you clean and cover up.
The source article’s author concludes:
Despite how those who pass us on the street may assume we feel when menstrual blood stains our clothing, there’s actually no reason to be embarrassed at all. There are only reasons to be proud.
So, actually, if we’re walking around with stained clothes, it’s entirely appropriate to have some embarrassment about that, particularly if those stains are preventable. Being embarrassed that you’ve just soiled your own clothing with menstrual blood is completely rational and normal and logical and right.
It’s called hygiene, people. This isn’t rocket science. It’s just simple hygiene, and respect for others. Because if you’re just happily bleeding through your clothes and then you sit on a public seat, you’re a disgusting seahag with no respect for yourself or others.
By all means, if you want to be all proud of your period, have at it. But don’t be an idiot and bleed all over yourself, because that’s just plain stupid.
Gawd.
