According to this, Spanish bullfighter Francisco Rivera posted this photo of himself and his daughter on Instagram a couple days ago:
That photo provoked a big fat investigation by the Spanish version of CPS, because it’s apparently frowned on, by MOST NORMAL PEOPLE, to hold your 5-month old that close to a wild bull. Spanish CPS said the whole situation was one of “unnecessary risk for a minor and a decision that we totally reject” and had already contacted prosecutors.
But Rivera wasn’t having any of it. He doubled down, responded to people on social media that he’s a 5th generation bullfighter and insisted his daughter was completely safe. In fact, he tweeted that there “is no safer place for her to be than in my arms.” And he posted this throwback, of his father doing the very same thing when he was a child.
Incidentally, Francisco was gored in the groin by a bull last summer. And yet, he insisted via Twitter, “She didn’t face the slightest danger for even a second.”
Oh, and Franciscos’ father was gored to death by a bull in 1984.
But, you know, totally safe.
I’m not going to pretend I’m not biased on this, because Mr. Mock has had this life long dream of going to run with the bulls in Pamplona, and I think it’s basically the stupidest tradition in the history of traditions and I always threaten to divorce him if he does it. I hate people tormenting bulls, I hate bullfighting, I hate everything about it, and the fact that this dude held his 5-month old near a bull while he was “training” means he ranks right up there with the dumbest of Darwin award winners.
Stupid. Unnecessary and stupid.
YMMV.
