November 30, 2015Last month, a cop went into a Dunkin’ Donuts in Providence, RI, only to have an angry employee scribble #BlackLivesMatter across his cup.
Officers in the area were upset, and rightly so. As Providence Fraternal Order of Police Vice President Mike Iamondi said, “Do we have to wonder if someone is going to try and slip us something and without us knowing? Where does it end?”
That’s exactly why retired Rhode Island Police Officer Tony Lepore organized a little protest against the movement. It wasn’t a big deal. He just wanted a sincere apology, but apparently the Providence Police Department disagreed with his actions and claimed he did a “disservice” to the city.
“Black Lives matter is an organization that has some individuals that advocate harm to police officers, and that was my concern,” Lepore said.
As punishment, they “fired” him from his annual gig. You see, every year, he directs holiday traffic in Providence, but he does so with epic dance moves. I’m not kidding. It’s hilarious.
The good news? He’s been hired to do the same gig in East Providence, so you only have to go across the river to see him!
It’s dumb that they fired him, but at least he’s not done for good. Can’t let those dance moves go to waste!
