I hereby endorse Ted Cruz for President.
OK. I jumped the gun. I’m not endorsing anybody because it’s too early. But I do LOVE me some Ted Cruz– especially when he “sticks up” for the greatest NFL team in the history of the universe, the New England Patriots. (I really do apologize for my obnoxiousness. Football does that to me. It’s a sickness, really.) Anyway, Cruz knows how to connect with people in a genuine and meaningful way. And he’s FUNNY.
Speaking to a crowd in Massachusetts over the weekend, Ted Cruz joked about “Deflategate” and got a roar of cheers. (And if you missed our post on “Deflategate,” you can catch up here.)
“Let me start by saying, Tom Brady was framed,” Cruz joked. “Now I’m not willing to pander on much, but on that– Tom Brady was framed!”
“And I will say this,” he continued. “Hillary Clinton did it. Why do you think she deleted her emails?!”
See? That’s an essential ingredient in the secret sauce of success. The GOP’s candidate– whoever that may be– needs to plug into pop culture. A lot of people couldn’t give a crap less about “Deflategate,” but guess what? It was EVERYWHERE. Conservatives need to stop sticking their heads in the sand and engage in pop culture. Be real. Tell a joke. Stop being so serious about everything.
The political war is connected to the cultural war, and we need to be involved in both or we’ll always lose.
Keep cruisin’ Cruz.
