That sourcelink is an article by Shannon Ridgway, in which she describes "thin privilege," because that's apparently a thing now.
She says that FOR REAL.
She lists all sorts of examples of sizeism, which you can read if you want to by clicking the link above, but here are a couple of the most absurd ones. If you have "thin privilege," then:
You can expect to pay reasonable prices for your clothing.
Airlines won’t charge you extra to fly.
The media doesn’t describe your body shape as part of an epidemic.
What a load of utter crap.
First of all, if you are a large enough size that your clothing requires lots more fabric than it would for someone who isn't a large size, then HELLO – YOU SHOULD PAY MORE FOR IT.
If you are a large enough size that your body spills over into two airplane seats, then HELLO – YOU SHOULD PAY FOR TWO SEATS.
When obesity can be directly linked to all sorts of health problems, as it is, then HELLO – THAT IS WHY IT'S CALLED AN EPIDEMIC.
This isn't rocket science. It's common sense. Those examples have nothing to do with "sizeism." They have nothing to do with "thin privilege." They have everything to do with common sense. If you use more of something, then you should pay more for that something.
And listen, I'm not knocking anyone for their size. You can be whatever size you wanna be, and that's awesome for you.
But this whining over sizeism and thin privilege is freaking ridiculous.
