Is there any chance that this sort of madness will ever stop?
“One of the main reasons that 'The Jungle Book' needs to be rebooted is to fix the things that became controversial not long after it was released in 1967," said Syracuse University professor Robert Thompson. "The King Louie character can have his speaking mannerisms updated in a way that suggests he speaks in a manner similar to other characters."
Apparently, people have a problem with the scene in which King Louie the ape sings, "I Wanna Be Like You" to Mowgli, because they think it doesn't represent an animal wanting to be human, but rather, it represents a black person wanting to be a white person. FOR REAL.
And this is in spite of the fact that Mowgli isn't even white.
A professor from Indiana's own DePauw University, Jeffrey McCall, said King Louie is blatantly racist because he speaks differently than other characters. "The King Louie character can have his speaking mannerisms updated in a way that suggests he speaks in a manner similar to other characters," he said. "[The film] can be updated with a keener eye to avoiding stereotypical language or behaviors that could be translatable to ethnic definition,"
Never mind that King Louie is the ONLY ORANGUTAN in the film, so perhaps that's why he speaks differently, and never mind the fact that this is a WORK OF FICTION that only progressive morons would get upset over.
I swear, this country is becoming totally wussified, and it's entirely the fault of progressive crybabies like these professors.
But you know what helps? Watching Robbie Williams sing I Wanna Be Like You with Olly Murs. That helps.
