Perhaps you've heard about Miss America Nina Davuluri's appearance at Central York High School in Pennsylvania last week. During her talk, senior Patrick Farves stood up and asked her if she'd go to prom with him. It was adorable, she was perfectly gracious about it, and she is currently busying herself speaking out against the school administrators there who suspended Patrick for his actions. BEHOLD:
So that's all well and good, right? Obviously, Miss America has a fine sense of humor and appreciates a compliment like any NORMAL PERSON WITH ACTUAL BRAINS.
Which brings me to Amanda Marcotte, who, according to wikipedia is a feminist blogger, but according to this link on Twitchy, is also an overreactive, hyper-sensitive lunatic who believes that asking a woman to prom is the same as an "unwanted sexual request" and "harassment."
I'm not even making this up. Here's what she first tweeted.

And then, because she naturally faced warranted criticism for that completely stupid remark, she followed it up with this:

Did you see that? Dude asking Miss America to prom was an UNWANTED SEXUAL REQUEST.
And that's when hilarity ensued with some of the responses.

I looked at Amanda Marcott's twitter feed this morning to see if she explained herself further, and naturally, she did. Here's just a sampling:

I'm not sure I've ever witnessed someone as humorless as Amanda Marcotte. Considering the fact that Miss America herself is defending this kid, and asking the school to cut him a break, I cannot for the life of me figure out why Amanda Marcotte feels the need to claim that Miss America was made to feel uncomfortable. Isn't that kind of Miss America's call?
Amanda is precisely the kind of feminist who gives feminism a bad name. Plus – she miiiight need to look up the word "pester" in the dictionary, given that she uses it incorrectly so often. There's this thing about repetition and frequency that are required in order to be "pestering" and those simply do not apply in the high school senior's case.
But Amanda's a liberal feminist. So why let reality and truth get in the way of her argument, right? And let's not forget Amanda used to work for John Edwards, who is obviously famous for his RESPECT FOR WOMEN, right? And she adores Bill Clinton, too.

But a senior in high school asking Miss America to prom? SEXUAL HARASSER, y'all.
Yup – the mind of a liberal feminist.
Wow.
