Oh, California. You so crazy.
According to this, parents of kids at a California elementary school got this flyer from another parent this week (and it really needed a copyeditor, but I digress):

So yeah, Principal Dana Carter wanted the students to kneel before administrators so that they could be "safe" and so he could implement "positive behavior intervention." Or something.
One mother said that her daughter had to "drop down on one knee with her hands at her side, wait for the principal to come out, lift his arms and tell them to go to class.”
SHNELL!
And after the flyer was circulated, parents flipped out, and now, the Yucaipa Calimesa Unified School District Superintendent Cali Binks is backing off the policy, saying that it's no longer going to be enforced.
Listen. I'm all for discipline in schools. But kneeling? Couldn't kids just stand in single file line and shut their yappers like in the olden days?
But then again, that's one of those antiquated notions taken from when it wasn't considered offensive to say "…one nation, under God" with your hand on your heart as you pledged allegience to our American flag…
Never mind.
