June 16, 2011BEHOLD: His resignation speech. Naturally, I have some thoughts.
1. The cheering and howling and heckling from the crowd? Ridiculously inappropriate and totally out of line.
2. Overall, his speech was as dignified as it could possibly be. I have no criticism of it, except that I have to say I chuckled when he said, as he was thanking various people: “To my mother and family who instilled in me the values that have carried me thus far…” Ummm….yeah. Probably not a good time to say anything about instilled values. Just sayin’. You can read the entire transcript here.
I don’t know if you’ve heard or not, but that former porn star, Ginger Lee, who Weiner sexted? She’s retained Gloria Allred to represent her. Why – I have no idea. I kinda hope that she’s suing him for some sort of mental anguish or something, because I would laugh maniacally if a PORN STAR were offended by racy pictures. That’d be awesome.
Anyway, I’m glad he’s resigned. I just hope he doesn’t get a talk show now.
