New Zealand’s Authoritarian Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern Resigns Suddenly

COVID brought out the worst in a lot of people, and New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern should be put right at the top of the list. She was a horrifying dictator through COVID, even shutting down her entire country over a singe case of COVID. She invasively monitored people, forcibly locked them in their homes, and brutally vilified and punished all who diverged from or opposed the official COVID narrative. She even banned newspapers and magazines that contradicted her official government narrative. Here’s a video of what she thought about people who chose not to get the COVID vaccine.

But all of a sudden, she has announced that she will not be seeking reelection. She turned on the fake tears and weepingly gaslit the public about her authoritarian leadership style, saying she hopes she will “leave behind a belief that you can be kind but strong, empathetic but decisive, optimistic but focused, that you can be your own kind of leader.” She was none of those thing. I can’t help but wonder whether there’s some shocking scandal brewing or being desperately covered up. Authoritarians like her don’t just resign.
