Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has faced significant backlash for his authoritarian mandates regarding travel into and within Canada, despite scientific data proving them unnecessary and unhelpful, and despite it now being the fall of 2022. A “senior government source” told Global News that “The decision to let the current measures expire on Sept. 30 as planned was made last Thursday.” Coincidentally, that’s just one day after Maxime Bernier went to court to fight the travel restrictions on Canadians.

In a move that is I suspect is related to this legal action, officials announced,
“The government of Canada will not renew the order in counsel that expires on September the 30th, and will therefore remove all COVID19 border requirements for all travelers entering Canada. This includes removal of all federal testing, quarantine, and isolation requirements, as well as the mandatory submission of health information in ArriveCan.”

Mandated use of ArriveCan and all other federal quarantine and isolation requirements will also drop. The mask mandate for planes and trains has also been suspended. pic.twitter.com/kUVUDtsECW
According to Global News,
“As of Oct. 1 all travellers, regardless of citizenship, will no longer have to submit public health information through ArriveCAN, provide proof of vaccination, undergo testing, quarantine or isolate, and monitor and report if they develop signs or symptoms of COVID-19 upon arriving in Canada. Furthermore, travellers will no longer be required to undergo health checks for travel on air and rail, or wear masks on planes and trains.”
CTVNews explains that allowing the special order to expire means the following:
-Foreign nationals won’t need to be vaccinated to enter the country;
-Incoming travellers to major airports won’t be subject to random mandatory COVID-19 tests;
-Unvaccinated Canadians will no longer have to isolate when they return and if someone is mid-isolation as of Oct. 1 they won’t have to complete the remainder;
-Travellers will not have to monitor or report if they develop COVID-19 symptoms upon arrival; Submitting public health information through the ArriveCan app prior to landing will become optional; and
-It’ll no longer be mandatory to wear a face mask while travelling on planes or trains.
This comes just days after Biden announced to the nation on 60 minutes that “The pandemic is over,” which would also negate related federal policies and mandates, as well as make his student loan handout program illegal, as it was contingent on an ongoing pandemic emergency. Predictably, the president’s statement was quickly contradicted by his handlers in the White House, who told CNN that “the President’s comments do not mark a change in policy toward the administration’s handling of the virus, and there are no plans to life the Public Health Emergency.” Basically, Joe Biden isn’t actually in charge and they aren’t ready to give up their pandemic power quite yet.

I doubt it has anything to do with any possible legal action. I’m guessing it is 100% because the Toronto Blue Jays will likely be in the playoffs.
