President Trump recently asked Obama’s Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, to step down.
He replaced him with Deputy Surgeon General Sylvia Trent-Adams, who happens to be a black nurse. I know that doesn’t matter, but identity politics saturates everything these days.
“Today, Dr. Murthy, the leader of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, was asked to resign from his duties as Surgeon General after assisting in a smooth transition into the new Trump Administration,” the Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement. “Dr. Murthy has been relieved of his duties as Surgeon General and will continue to serve as a member of the Commissioned Corps. (Health and Human Services) Secretary (Tom) Price thanks him for his dedicated service to the nation. Rear Admiral Sylvia Trent-Adams, who is the current Deputy Surgeon General, will serve as the acting Surgeon General and assume leadership of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.”
Because Trent-Adams was appointed by Trump, she’s 100 percent unqualified for this job. OBVIOUSLY. Trump appointed her. What does that tell you? I mean, she’s “just a nurse.”

@ABC It was a forced resignation due to change of Administration. Replacement is good but a nurse, hopefully, this is temporary!

@ABC But the word "Surgeon" is in the title. Doesn't that mean something? Or am I being too literal-minded?

NYT was on board with this too.
However, she has years of experience– 24 years, to be exact– in the Public Health Service Corps.
But still. Everyone’s talking about this nurse thing.
@DomageMon @ABC A reflection of ignorance. Nurses save lives everyday. More detail oriented than docs. One saved my mom from contradicting meds prescribed.

@ABC Rear Admiral (RADM) Sylvia Trent-Adams, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N.

@ABC "a nurse"? How about A PhD which is a doctorate degree, former Nurse Office in the Army and Deputy SurGen? Truth that hard to tell?
— Michael Lederman (@MrLederman) April 22, 2017
@CherylBPR @America_Lives1 This woman is a Rear Admiral in the CCPHS. More than qualified to serve as Acting Surgeon General, even as a nursing officer.

@ABC Wow….good job ABC, terrible way to diminished an educated, qualified woman.

@ABC Both are capable professionals.. she will fit right in straight away.

@ABC She is Not Just a nurse ABC! Sylvia Trent-Adams has a Ph.D., was a nurse officer in the Army and the deputy surgeon general. 🙄

@ABC So since Trump appointed her, instead of calling her a Dr. like she is, you'll call her a nurse. Stay #fakenews abc

@ABC So it doesn't make any difference she has a Phd and is second in command to the surgeon general??? Hum are u just anti Trump??

That’s what gets me. Liberals didn’t seem to have a problem with Obama allowing her to serve as the Deputy Surgeon General. Why the fuss now? Because Trump. That’s why.
