President-elect Trump is seriously considering offering Mitt Romney a position as secretary of state. It’s definitely a little bizarre. Just this summer, Romney tore into Trump, calling him a “phony” and “fraud.” He even made fun of Trump’s “lousy hat.” Trump responded by calling Romney a “failed candidate” and “choke artist.”
Ouch.
Apparently, they’ve settled their differences. They met last weekend, and it went really well.
“We had a far reaching conversation with regards to the various theaters in the world where there are interests of the United States of real significance,” Romney said. “We discussed those areas, and exchanged our views on those topics – a very thorough and in-depth discussion in the time we had. And I appreciate the chance to speak with the president-elect and I look forward to the coming administration and the things that it’s going to be doing.”
Even if the two had a good meeting, it doesn’t change what was already said. I think that’s why Trump loyalists have a hard time trusting Romney as secretary of state.
Romney knows this, and word has it that he reeeeeeeeally wants the secretary of state position. That’s why he’s considering issuing a public apology to win over the Trump loyalists.

What do you think? Would an apology do the trick?
