I think Mr. Purple Shirt is an American and just doesn’t realize it yet. This situation is very reminiscent of the trend of Americans pummeling pickpockets in Paris, and I dig it.

When it comes to sending a message, I’d say Mr. Purple Shirt gave the thief five good reasons not to steal his bike.

Scooter man on the other hand just learned why we don’t help criminals avoid the consequences of their own actions. I was 0% shocked when the thief promptly tried to take off with his scooter after being rescued. Why? Because the thief is clearly a jerk, and jerks will do jerk things.

I was also not surprised when I read the thief got away because the “sPeCiAl ConStAbLe” didn’t catch him. Sounds like a glorified Canadian hall monitor to me.
