Raise your hand if you’ve learned way more about the city of Minneapolis in 2026 than you ever wanted to.
If your hand shot up, welcome! You’re amongst friends.
Unfortunately, the Mini Apple keeps acting up, so I am forced to bring you another negative story out of ole’ Mill City. This time, they are being accused of racist housing programs…because of course they are.
Minneapolis’ housing plan is facing a fair housing investigation by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the federal government announced on Thursday afternoon.
Specifically, HUD is concerned that aspects of the Minneapolis 2040 plan may violate Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Fair Housing Act, according to a press release. The release notes that the plan’s proposal for “cultural districts… where a significant portion of the population is comprised of people of color, Indigenous people, and/or immigrant communities” could be discriminatory. In addition, the Trump administration is raising red flags about the city’s emphasis on “people of color” and “indigenous people” for homeownership programs.
“For example, your Community Planning and Economic Development department will prioritize ‘rental housing for Black, Indigenous, People of Color and Immigrant communities’ by ‘leveraging [its] rental licensing authority,’” Craig Trainor, HUD Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity, wrote in a letter to Mayor Jacob Frey. “That is not going to fly.”
Can you imagine if this situation was reversed and we were being told they were prioritizing rental housing for whites? Not a single liberal would have a head due to cranial detonation. CNN reporters would suffer aneurysms. Riots would be breaking out in the streets—well, more riots, anyway. But because these programs discriminate against white people…crickets.
Racism against whites has become so en mode I don’t feel like anyone is shocked anymore, and that is something we shouldn’t take lightly. It will be interesting to see what this investigation turns up. And if anything, it is highlighting a very disturbing racial trend in our country.
