This is like 20 years too late. But here we are. Mitch McConnell just announced today that he will not seek reelection in 2026. It’s about damn time. He’s been a Senator for longer than I have been alive. Can we get some term limits on these people? I mean, this man has had himself a rough couple of years recently.
JUST IN: Republican Senator Mitch McConnell, whose birthday is today, will not be running for reelection in 2026.

Good.
The statement comes as McConnell has suffered multiple medical emergencies in the past few years.

The fact that this is a sitting Congressman is absurd. The fact that he just now is not seeking reelection is absurd. But thank goodness he is finally calling it quits. Because seriously, what are we doing, Kentucky? Get your crap together. He was the sole Republican holdout on multiple Trump confirmations. Thankfully it didn’t matter, but it’s still annoying. Good riddance, McConnell. Your presence in Congress will not be missed.
