Chelsea Belle O’Donnell, the daughter of Rosie O’Donnell, was taken into custody on September 17 for neglecting her child and possessing drugs. Authorities discovered her 11-month-old son in proximity to a meth pipe at her residence.
O’Donnell faces multiple felony charges, including maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of methamphetamine and THC, along with two misdemeanors for disorderly conduct and possession of illegally obtained prescription drugs.
During the police visit, officers noted unsafe living conditions and discovered drug paraphernalia, including used needles and a meth bong.
Chelsea was found in possession of meth after being arrested, and her son is now in the care of friends.
Police discovered “a black and silver digital scale, some used gem bags with white residue, and a sharps container that had more used and unused hypodermic needles” beneath the baby’s crib.
“Inside the bedroom that appeared to be designated as [the child’s] room, there were numerous used hypodermic needles,” another officer noted.
“Several of them were loaded with blood. There were old apples, garbage, random tools, and butane bottles sitting on the floor, all mixed with the clothing belonging to [the child].”
“It appeared Jacob and Chelsea were more concerned with their drug addiction than providing [the baby] with a safe and clean environment,” another report read.
“Sadly, this is not new for our family — Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade — we are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease,” Rosie’s representative stated.
Rosie previously stated that Chelsea was mentally ill, leading her daughter to condemn the statement.
“People think I’m this crazy person and as I’ve said, I have depression and bad anxiety – but it’s been something that’s gotten a lot better,” Chelsea said previously.
“But these were personal things and I didn’t want anyone to know them about me. I wouldn’t say I’m mentally ill – I would say lots of people struggle with what I have.”
Following the incident, she was arrested again on October 10 for attempting to discard a meth pipe and had various drugs hidden in her possession.
Court hearings for her cases are scheduled for November.
