Disney faces controversy over discriminatory hiring practices against white males revealed in an undercover video featuring Senior Vice President Michael Giordano discussing the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.
Giordano disclosed that white males are not considered for certain positions, with appearance playing a significant role in hiring decisions.
“There’s no way we’re hiring a white male,” Giordano said.
He highlighted the use of coded language to avoid legal consequences and emphasized incentivized discrimination through executive bonuses tied to DEI compliance.
“We wanted somebody in meetings who would appear a certain way, and he wasn’t going to bring that to the meeting,” Giordano said.
The revelation has added to Disney’s recent political controversies, including backlash over progressive themes in its shows and a legal dispute with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis resolved after a public battle over the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
