Nothing annoys me more than when someone thinks they are a genius just because they have a degree. I think we can all attest to the fact that there are a lot of idiots running around with expensive pieces of paper and letters after their name.

Degrees show you’re willing to put in some work, yes, but are not a firm indicator of IQ. Some of the smartest people I know don’t have college degrees and have been highly successful without them. Case in point: the below experiment by Jubilee.

During the experiment, strangers were asked to rank each other on “perceived” intelligence. Then, after ranking each other, the true results were revealed based on how each individual scored on an IQ test.

The best part? It did NOT go how the participants thought it would.

Enter smug-face Maria. Maria has a lot of degrees and thinks she’s brilliant because her company makes covid tests that don’t work.

Besides having an incredibly insufferable personality, Maria also has poor judgement.

Watch Maria underestimate Tyler, a 21-year-old who works in the Marine Corps, before getting hit with some cold-hard test results.

Even without the test results, it’s clear Tyler is smart based on his definition of intelligence alone. When asked, he said, “I think intelligence is better defined as your adaptability and your problem-solving skills more than it is your education.” Adding that the most essential thing to indicate intelligence was common sense.

Bingo.

Not degrees. Not fancy schools. Common sense and problem-solving skills. Those are what will get you far in life.
