If you had any doubts as to where we are as a society, I’m about to clear that up for you.
Not totally, of course… there’s many, many things that need fixing. However… the ability of businesses to function as… you know… businesses should probably be near the top of the honey-do list. Kinda hard for people to have jobs or make a profit if their sh*t keeps getting smashed or snatched with no repercussions.
From the Daily Wire:
Vandalism is becoming almost unavoidable for San Francisco’s restaurants, a new survey shows.
Only 3% out of 74 restaurants surveyed said they had not experienced graffiti or property crime in the last month, according to a new survey from the Golden Gate Restaurant Association.
The city has spent $1 million on grants for vandalism relief since 2021, and nearly 800 businesses have received $1,000 or $2,000 grants for graffiti, broken windows, or other vandalism, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
San Francisco’s 311 call center has received 10,000 reports of graffiti on commercial buildings and sidewalks in the last six months, the outlet reported.
Now, the San Francisco Police Department has even assigned an officer to investigate graffiti full-time.
A pizza shop in San Francisco’s Mission District was recently hit with acid, the owner told ABC7.
Some restaurants said they gave up, including Shuggie’s, also in the Mission district, which received a grant, but gave up trying to clean up the almost daily graffiti.
Oh, how I yearn for the days where vandalism was a punishable offense. Now, it’s pretty much encouraged… if not by direct endorsement, then certainly indirectly. You know how they say “no answer is an answer”? Well… the fact that this kind of behavior sees virtually no consequences, especially in CA, pretty much serves a dual purpose as a thumbs-up for the scum, and a middle finger for the business owner/taxpayer.
We’re supposed to be operating within a system of mutual respect (hilarious right?). It’s certainly been a stretch of time since that’s been the case. The revival of that relationship between public officials and constituents, however, is vital if the impending downfall of our republic is to be avoided.
I’m not holding my breath…
