I do my best to reflect on how lucky I am to live in America as often as possible. It’s something that easily gets forgotten in the shuffle of everyone’s day-to-day, but I think it would be worth attempting to put it near the top of things that deserve appreciation.
Given my age bracket, it seems I’m in the minority on that one…
From the Daily Wire:
In the most recent Gallup poll reveals that pride in national identity is kind of embarrassing, especially among those aged 18-34. Talk about a generational rift right in the midst of all the political chaos.
The 18-34 crowd isn’t feeling the love, with only a measly 18% declaring they’re “extremely proud” to be American. Meanwhile, in the same poll, the 55 and older club is gloating, being almost three times more likely to feel super duper proud to be American.
OK, let’s do some time travel to 2013. Back then, a whopping 85% of the peeps aged 18-29 were rocking the national pride. But now? Nah, that number has gone way down. It’s like a roller coaster ride, but instead of screaming with excitement, we’re left scratching our heads.
To add another twist to this whole patriotism tale, political party affiliation plays a big role. Surprise, Republicans are leading the pride game, clocking in at a cool 60%. Meanwhile, the Democrats and independents are lagging behind at 29% and 33% respectively. But hey, let’s not forget that even within these political tribes, the young ones are still less thrilled compared to their seasoned counterparts.
The Gallup poll follows another that found two out of three U.S. voters have declared that President Joe Biden, 80, might be just be too old to run in 2024. Americans think it’s high time he step aside and let younger Democrats fight it out for the nomination, according to a new poll.
The DailyMail.com/Tipp poll shockingly discovered that a whopping 67% of registered voters believe Biden — who’s become quite the maestro of gaffes and falls — isn’t up to the task mentally or physically to serve a second term.
While being appreciative and “extremely proud” aren’t necessarily the same thing, I doubt a language change would prompt young people to answer any differently.
Ironically, the problem lies within one of the left’s favorite trigger words:
Privilege.
Not only do these young people benefit from the overarching privilege of being an American; they also benefit from the offshoot privilege of having the freedom to preach about how much they think it sucks. They’re so busy calling other people out for their white privilege, cisgender privilege, or straight privilege, that they don’t even realize that they’re simultaneously exercising their bullsh*tter’s privilege (protected by our lovely Constitution, which they also despise).
Young people hate America because they have the privilege of being able to ignore how lucky they really are.
If America was really the hellscape it’s made out to be, I’m pretty sure we’d have millions of people fleeing the country instead of pouring through the border…

Housing is completely unaffordable. Inflation is out of control. The govt. aids, abets, and serves Latin American cartels. The govt. doles out endless monies and benefits to non-American immigrant invaders. The govt. sends endless monies overseas to foreign nations. Only law-abiding, native-born Americans have any accountability for their actions or their finances. So, yeah, America is *not* for Americans. That’s why I’m super-critical of it. You claim that there is freedom of speech. Bogus! Twitter, FB, YouTube, etc. censor, deplatform, shadow-ban, and throttle all dissenting voices. You cannot even imagine the opprobrium I’ve received since 2020!!😡 I *was* proud to be an American, but there is nothing “American” about the current United States of America.
It’s possible to separate the ‘idea’ of America from the government. The first half of your post is all complaints against the government. (And FYI: rights are, or are supposed to be, things that you can do or participate in and the government cannot punish you for. The freedom of speech means that the government cannot punish you for speaking critically of it, among other protections. Social media sites are well within their own rights to limit your speech if they don’t like it. You are also free to not use said social media sites if you don’t like their policies.)
Totally incorrect. There is now ample evidence that the govt. compelled these social media companies to censor certain speech. Just because it is by proxy does not mean that it is not a First Amendment violation. c.f. Mark Zuckerberg’s testimony before congress.
Also, please stop being a big government nanny state shill.🙄
I always wondered how the Nazi’s managed to get broad support of the German people. Now I know after observing the brain washing of our youth. Most of the things they are being told are false in the face of fact. They have been dumbed down and are unbelievably ignorant and gullible. I spent 20 years in uniform and served all over the world. As a civilian I have traveled to many countries. I can say that there is no country on earth even close to the USA. I am the host father of 7 foreign exchange students. They all saw the difference between their home countries and here. Complacency is the order of the day. It is too much trouble to seek fact and truth. Ayn Rand and Orwell were surprisingly accurate. The only workable answer I see is to clean up the schools. remove corruption in government and make elections cheat proof.
