June 19, 2023Can you even imagine thinking you have the moral high ground when you argue that a sadistic child rapist and murderer was subjected to “cruel and unusual punishment” and that his “human dignity” was violated because the state wouldn’t pay for him to medically transition to a ‘woman’ before being put to death for his heinous crimes? The ACLU is no longer a serious organization. This is well and truly the end for them. I’m not sure they can be taken seriously on any matter after this horrible take.
This week, the State of Florida executed Duane Owen, a convicted sexual sadist, child rapist, and murderer. He was in state custody for more than 3 decades after being convicted for the rape and stabbing death of a 14 year old girl who was babysitting 2 young children at the time, as well as the rape and murder of a 38 year old mother while her children slept in the house. He also attacked several other women who managed to escape with their lives.
This piece of human garbage stripped every bit of human dignity from the women he sexually tortured and murdered, defiling them both in life and death until he was finally caught and forced to stop. Hilariously and horrifyingly, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) was outraged following his execution saying that Duane, the convicted child rapist, sexual sadist, and murderer, was forced to endure “enormous suffering” in Florida’s prison because the state never provided “necessary gender-affirming care” to transition Duane to a woman as he requested. They claim that Duane’s “right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment” was violated because Florida wouldn’t spend taxpayer money to medically transition him.
The ACLU further cited legal papers drafted by Duane himself saying that he “should be accorded the ‘essence of human dignity’ and be allowed to become ‘who she was meant to be ‘” before being executed. I’m sorry, child rapist and murderer says what about human dignity? He can’t possibly be talking about the same human dignity that he viciously, repeatedly, and entirely stripped from his victims, right? Please tell me he wasn’t really arguing for that. And the ACLU doesn’t seriously think it’s a reasonable use of taxpayer money to medically transition a violent and sadistic child rapist and murderer before putting him to death for his crimes, right? That would be ridiculously bad judgement and mismanagement of taxpayer funds. Y’all, prison isn’t supposed to be fun or comfortable. It’s a punishment. For Duane, it was a punishment for numerous horrific and heinous crimes. It’s not unreasonable for the state to refuse to indulge his ridiculous and convenient gender delusions.

I agree with the ACLU. That psycho should have been given his surgery, with a rusty spoon and no anesthesia, moments before justice was handed out.
I would only agree if the procedure was performed by a first year veterinary student.
