A huge part of public relations and professional self-promotion is timing, and this story is a prime example. Biologically female transgender Hollywood actor Elliot Page (previously Ellen Page, star of Juno) just revealed a story about being the victim of a supposed transphobic attack in LA last year, conveniently at the exact same time that Page’s new book, “Pageboy,” was release, in which book this story is retold. According to the New York Post, Page was allegedly “verbally attacked and threatened by a crazed transphobic man” on the street near Page’s hotel. According to the story, the alleged attacker yelled, “I’m going to f–king gay bash you, fa—t,” also allegedly yelling that “this is why I need a gun.”

Hmm. I have just one question–was Page also eating a Subway sandwich at the time of the alleged attack? Because my gosh, if this doesn’t sound like another Jussie Smollett story. First of all, Page waited a year to tell the story, just when it would serve as an extremely sensational promotion for a newly published memoir that needs a surge in public visibility to boost sales? Because really, who wants to read a memoir about Elliot Page… Then there’s the fact that a) no one talks like that, threatening to “f–king gay bash” someone, and b) if people did talk like that, it wouldn’t be on a West Hollywood street. As the kids these days say, the whole thing is sus.
