We knew it was only a matter of time, but DeSantis has finally thrown his hat into the Presidential ring. He released his first Presidential campaign ad, and I love it!

This makes me both excited and extremely nervous. I have lived in Florida for almost 9 years now, so I have seen and felt the full effects of DeSantis as a leader, and I think he would make an incredible President. I also have seen how the media…and other members of the party (looking at you Trump) have treated him. That’s the part that makes me nervous. Before you come at me, know that I love Trump. I voted for him twice and will again if he’s our guy, but I am a little salty with him and his attacks on DeSantis.
For everyone attacking DeSantis, saying he’s a RINO or whatever, please stop. If he’s not your guy, that’s okay, you don’t have to love him. But just know, he has been nothing short of an amazing leader for Florida. I don’t know what I would have done during the pandemic had I lived anywhere else. He’s fighting for our kids, fighting for parents, and protecting our state. These three examples are just a small sliver of what he has done for Florida.
Whether you love him or hate him, just know that we have a lot of great candidates to choose from. But the most important thing is once a candidate is chosen, we must come together and support whoever he or she may be.

I like DeSantis but I’m not sure he is the one for the current job. We need a hatchet man who will clean out all the agencies of the federal government and a congress who will help in that endeavor. Think about Trump going after the DOJ, FBI, IRS and all the other compromised agencies. Some should be deleted in entirety. What I would really like to see is Trump/Desantis 2024 with Trump cleaning up the departments and foreign policy with DeSantis taking care of domestic policy. Then DeSantis/Noem in 2028/32. It took generations to get into this mess and it will take generations to get back to normal. The America of today is nothing like when I was growing up in the 1950’s. It was a better world then.
I agree – I think a Trump/DeSantis ticket would be unstoppable. But do you really think Trump can get over himself enough to put someone as strong as DeSantis on his ticket, even if he is in the top spot? My gut says no; DeSantis as VP would take some of the limelight, and Trump’s gotta have it all to himself.
I’m not convinced Trump would actually be a hatchet man. I know he did a lot of great things during his administration, but if he can actually win a general election, which I’m not convinced he can again, will he surround himself with the “great” people like he did before, and then will still constantly be sidetracked by the progressives trying to undermine him at every turn?
I actually trust DeSantis more to be a better hatchet man. But just my humble opinion.
That being said, of course I’d vote for him.
My only concern is Trump is unfairly dragging Desantis like crazy.
Trump’s ego can’t stand the competition so he name calls, pouts, and stomps his feet like a child until he gets his way or gets a spanking. If Trump gets the nomination, the other R nominees will likely fall in line and back him. If Trump doesn’t, he’ll storm off into the corner and hurl insults at the nominee. I suspect he’d even actively work against that person to soothe his wounded ego.
That said, I’ll vote for Trump if he’s the nominee though my preference right now is DeSantis. I’m not a “Never Trumper” but I’d sure like to see someone else be the nominee. I just don’t want to vote for someone convicted of civil crimes (rightfully or not) – especially sexual crimes – even if he did do a great job as President the first time.
The other problem isn’t the “Never Trumpers” (who are loud, but a minority), it’s the “Only Trumpers” (equally loud, but I suspect outnumber the Nevers). The Onlys won’t show up to vote if it’s not their god-head. I’m voting for the “R” – ANY of them – because the “D”s are killing this country on purpose and I REALLY think we need a massive re-taking of the Senate, House, and White House to try and correct this ship’s course.
Yes! I agree 100% with everything! I’m so worried that Trump is going to just destroy DeSantis and then ruin him for a 2028 run. I don’t think Trump has anything on him, but that doesn’t mean he won’t just say things to make him look bad. He already is saying that DeSantis mismanaged COVID and crap. When it’s not true, at all! What I really would have loved to have seen DeSantis come out and say “I’m not even running this time,” after everything that Trump and the media have said about him before he even announced, and then just run in 2028. But in any case, we just need to win this election, no matter who it is on our side (even though I want it to be Ron so bad! haha)
The only Trumpers kill me. They’re the ones that might potentially give this election to Biden. I love DeSantis and would love to see him be our guy, But I do think Trump will win the nominee. But if for some reason he doesn’t, I really think our own party will be our downfall.
I’m with you on all this too. I’m sick of people saying the best ticket would be Trump-DeSantis. And if I hear one more person say, it’s not DeSantis’ time…he can run in 2028? AARGH!
Yes, I’d vote for Trump if he’s the nominee, of course. (like you, DeSantis is my guy). And unfortunately I think Trump could easily win the primary, but not necessarily the general election…
I definitely think DeSantis is the more electable person in the general election: he’s smart, eloquent, he’s more likeable and he doesn’t have to stoop to name-calling (that had it’s time and place-HA!-but it’s lost it’s luster to me).
> But the most important thing is once a candidate is chosen, we must come together and support whoever he or she may be.
Hard disagree on that one. Don’t speak ill is one thing, support is different. They have to earn our vote, it isn’t theirs by right.
I have no qualms with DeSantis but I really wish Republicans would nominate Haley is nominated as that would decimate the Democrats narrative of Republicans being sexist/racist and would put a lot of them in a catch 22 as they have to be sexist in their own terms in order to continue to support the party “against sexism.”
I agree, the only problem is Liberals only care about women if they’re Liberal, and they have no problems being hypocritical idiots. If you’re a Conservative woman, you’re automatically disregarded. Look at how they treated Sarah Palin and how they hate Kari Lake. It’s just like Conservative black men and women. They only act like they care if you’re voting with them. The moment a woman disagrees with them, we’re called misogynistic sexists. Just like they call black conservatives white supremists.
As much as I also really like Nikki Haley and think she could do an amazing job, they will rip her apart just like any other candidate.
I know I just love watching the mental gymnastics these people go through to prevent the cognitive dissonance. Sadly these are people so far divorced from reality and gaslit to the point that they cannot be reasoned with and all I can do at this point is laugh as their view of the world relies more and more on myths instead of truth.
