The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) President Derrick Johnson rebuffed a CNN anchor who listed statistics about Florida being a good state for minority business owners Monday.
The NAACP issued a travel warning for Florida on Saturday, claiming the state “devalues and marginalizes” issues facing “communities of color.”
“Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals,” the NAACP said. “Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color.”
CNN’s Sara Sidner then listed statistics showing minority-owned businesses in Florida do overwhelmingly well in the sunshine state compared to others.
“First of all, this propaganda language over the last several years wasn’t because of anything [DeSantis] did in policy,” Johnson said. “Florida by geography is an attractive place where people would like to go. But he’s fighting the largest company in the state, Disney, around tourism. They just pulled out a billion dollars. He is minimizing the quality of education by taking away the diversity for children to learn. He has sought to cause harm by saying that every citizen could carry guns without a permit. Those are not business attractive policies, those are regressive policies that are going to hit a dead end.”
The move to issue a travel advisory was prompted by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ decision to reject the initial Advanced Placement African American Studies course that included topics on queer theory. DeSantis said teaching black history is a “core curriculum” but including queer ideology was “indoctrination.”

If you’re a liberal who’s under the assumption that these people care about you… then I have a few things I’d like to sell you….
You have to be gullible AF to think that this is a legitimate argument. Stop with your emotional, identity-fueled tirade for a second and actually look around you. If Florida sucks so much, then why are so many people going there to get away from major cities?
Anyone? Anyone?
Here’s the real kicker: libs have a real bad habit of fleeing from their policies to thriving red states so they can vote for the same policies that didn’t work the first time.
News flash: it wasn’t because the policies weren’t implemented correctly. They didn’t work because they’re sh*t policies. Are we going to address this or not? (I’m guessing not?)
Here’s what I want to see: governmental positions are appointed in the style of jury duty. You can only do the job if your number’s called. After you do it once, you can never do it again. There will be a screening process, of course, to evaluate which job would best suit you based on your background. Maybe a few years ago I would have been worried about getting somebody in there who wasn’t qualified, but I mean… take a look around. We literally gave a thieving puppy play enthusiast access to nuclear codes. It couldn’t be much worse…
If Johnson is so concerned about the lives of black Americans not being valued, why is he brown-nosing Planned Parenthood, per his lament over Florida’s “threat to women’s reproductive freedoms”? Klanned Parenthood has a reputation for targeting black Americans in the guise of “civil rights” to make it sound palatable to the gullible such as Johnson and, unfortunately, some black Christian clergy and their congregations.
If you wish to see how dumb our society has become take a look at the “Citi Bike Karen” incident from not too long ago.
So many people put themselves in the most pretzel logic I’ve ever seen to argue that a pregnant woman who just got off work would for whatever reason go out of her way to try to deliberately rob a group of young men who happened to be black of a rental bicycle but never seemed to posit the idea that maybe the roles were reversed. The ultimate irony was that at least a few of the people covering it tried to claim that nobody would believe the boys story despite the fact that is exactly what happened and has been happening with these same outlets for years.
