John Fetterman had to speak during a hearing today, and he struggled HARD.

Did you get that? Because I didn’t. Make no mistake, I am not making fun of him for his inability to speak because of his stroke. However, I am 100% saying that he is unfit to be a Senator because of it. It’s sad, and I do feel bad for the guy. But he needs to resign. Also, his wife should be ashamed of herself for encouraging him to go through with the race in the first place.
Would Dr. Oz have made a better Senator? I honestly don’t know. Neither option was really that great. But at least you could understand him. I honestly don’t know if it’s harder to understand Fetterman or Biden. But hey, at least he was in a suit and not his sweats today. So I guess that’s something?

>his inability to speak … he is unfit to be a Senator because of it
Sorry any deaf people, sorry Stephen Hawking (obviously before he died) you’re too damn stupid to represent your states. Learn to speak well or GTFO.
It is the ability to think we should be concerned with and we don’t know if, how, or how severely Fetterman has been affected.
>I am not making fun of him for his inability to speak because of his stroke.
But you are being derogatory. There are so many things to criticize him over- racism, Marxism, etc., but it is always his ability to speak, never his ideas.
Though I don’t disagree with you Mike (it’s the ideas, not the communication of them that matters), I think the problem with Fetterman is that his inability to speak makes it impossible for us to discern what his ideas are. Most deaf people are able to communicate just fine (though many require an interpreter for their sign language); same with Hawking – his computerized speech wasn’t eloquent but it was easy to understand what he was trying to communicate. Not so with Fetterman; his word salad rivals even Kamala’s. And if the inability to speak hinders communication of ideas (as is clearly the case with Fetterman), then the inability to speak becomes a valid problem.
I understand the danger of judging a person’s intelligence based on their communication skills. I normally live overseas in a French speaking country. My French is abysmal – I sound like a drunken three year old when I try to speak. And often, when nationals try to speak to me in English, they sound just as imbecilic as I do when I speak French. And neither of these things is any indication of our relative intelligence, but rather our inability to communicate. But if that inability hinders communication, then it becomes the problem. That is where we are with Fetterman.
Then let him type and use closed captions without “making fun” of him, but do you remember when he tried that? Everyone on “our side” was still screaming, “speak well or get out.”
No, sorry Mike even in that method of communication he faired poorly. He has blatant real time mental communication problems. Continuing to ignore it base don this level of specificity is disingenuous.
The issue I have with him is that in order to be a Senator, you have to be a communicator. If he is unable to do that, which he is, he is not fit to be a Senator. When you apply for any job, they have a list of requirements you must meet. If I don’t meet those requirements, I don’t even apply for that position. Or, if I do apply just because, I am promptly turned down for that position because I don’t have the qualifications that fit that position. John Fetterman does not have the qualifications that fit being a US Senator.
I also don’t believe he doesn’t have great ideas because he can’t speak properly, I believe he doesn’t have great ideas because he doesn’t. He was the mayor of the town my grandparents grew up in. We now don’t go to Braddock because it’s dangerous. When we has the Mayor he did nothing for that town. He ran on the fact that he built Braddock back up. But I can promise you, he did not. It’s one of the poorest towns in Pennsylvania, and he did nothing to help it.
1-We don’t know if he can communicate well, we know he has problems with speech (though I understood him just fine). Those two things are related but not the same.
2-The qualifications for Senator are age 30, 9 years a citizen, and resident of their state. That’s it, communication isn’t mentioned.
>The issue I have with him is that in order to be a Senator, you have to be a communicator.
Voters can chose to have a poor choice as their representative cannot communicate properly but still toes the line.
