Academia is such a wild place to me. It’s a little bit of a mixed bag (from my experience). You either get professors who are super passionate about learning in general, and just want their students to learn and grow as people, or you get… whatever the f*ck this is…
There’s not really an in-between, and I’m grateful that I’ve been in contact with more professors of the former description.
Here’s just further proof of my luck, I guess…
From the Daily Wire:
Hundreds of academics and faculty members at the University of North Carolina (UNC) are opposing a bill in the state legislature that would require students take a course on the U.S. Constitution and other key American documents.
A letter signed by 673 professors from UNC-Chapel Hill called two proposed bills and other efforts undertaken by Board of Governors and Board of Trustees on campus an attack on the “principles of academic freedom and shared governance.” The letter was published Tuesday in The Daily Tar Heel.
One of the bills, House Bill 715, would eliminate tenure at UNC, instead putting in place a contract system of one to four-year contracts. It would also give the Board of Trustees authority to “[e]nsure efficient use of institutional resources, including regularly evaluating and eliminating unnecessary or redundant expenses, personnel, and areas of study.”
The second bill would require that all college students, before graduation, take an American history course that includes reading the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Emancipation Proclamation, at least five essays from the Federalist Papers, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Letter from Birmingham Jail, and the Gettysburg Address, according to Fox News.
“In its current form, the bill would prescribe what is taught in this course and even determine much of the content and weight of its final exam,” the letter says. “H.B. 96 violates core principles of academic freedom. It substitutes ideological force-feeding for the intellectual expertise of faculty.”
“[O]ur leaders continue to disregard campus autonomy, attack the expertise and independence of world-class faculty, and seek to force students’ educations into pre-approved ideological containers. We must protect the principles of academic freedom and shared governance which have long made UNC a leader in public education,” the letter concludes.
Isn’t that rich?
Surely these same professors would argue that a course on the benefits of watching adult films is just an opportunity to “broaden a student’s horizons.” Or that a course exploring the parallels between prostitution and artistic expression is just there to “push the boundaries of a student’s thinking.”
If you believe learning is just learning, then you need to support it in every area. I’ve had enough of the “I only care when it’s convenient for me” bullsh*t.
Of course, I’m forgetting that the constitutional documents in question were written by white dudes, and the professors are also being told what to include in their lesson plans, while also being under threat of losing their tenure. A triple whammy of screaming, crying, and throwing up for them, undoubtedly…
Also… are we just gonna ignore the fact that there are other things included here that people should really read? Like M.L.K Jr.’s Letter from Birmingham Jail… the mob doesn’t like him anymore? I must’ve missed that one. Is it because of his religious affiliation? These are all burning questions that I have…
If you can’t handle reading documents that shaped the country you’re actively benefitting from because they might hurt your feelings, then you probably need help. Lots of help.
It’s just paper, ink, and ideas. None of these things hurt you unless you let them. So don’t.

So, all the profs are teaching Marxist doctrine? Senator Joe McCarthy had it right. Infiltration is killing off all our traditional and successful values.
Jesse Helms (love him or leave him) once said, “Why do we need to build a zoo in NC? Just put a fence around Chapel Hill and be done with it.” Not surprised those turd burglars would be against reading the constitution, but all for CRT course compulsion and sensitivity training.

I’m all in. Where do I sign up? Do you know if they are internet porn classes or if I would have to occasionally attend class at the local strip club? Arte the dollar bills part of my tuition? If yes, is financial aid available?
BTW: My wife has a strict no dating rule, but I was thinking if I took a class for my educational edification, I might be able to make a colorable argument that I was not technically breaking her rule. Of course, said argument would be made by phone as I have earned over the last 31 years it is best to make such technical argument when you are not within slapping distance.
I will let myself out now.
One more piece of advice for the rookie husbands out there. I have learned this through years of experience. When you are phoning in a technical argument, like I should be allowed to look at educational porn or attend an educational demonstration at the local strip club, to your wife, it is best to do it from at least a block from your house. I have found calling her when you are both sitting in your living room just gives her a projectile (her phone) to throw at your head.
Is UNC one of the schools that has a forced “diversity” class requirement?
\>the mob doesn’t like him anymore?
No.

Probably that whole ‘not judging people by the color of their skin’ thing. A core tenet of the crazies movement (Progressivism) is judging people by their skin color.
And yet it’s the radical Left that loves to strut around and call things “unAmerican”, “a threat to our Democracy”, “dangerous”.
Studying our Constitution is none of those things, but the crazy socialist Left says they are. These people are the most crazy hypocritical kool-aid drinking people on the planet and kids pay tens of thousand of dollars to be indoctrinated into this malarkey.
These are people who think woman is anyone who identifies as a woman, it’s safe to assume that whenever they say a word it is not meant to use the traditional dictionary definition therefore we have to try to translate what they are saying by what is being described and “Democracy” very easily correlates to “rule by the Democrat party”
