April 6, 2023I’ve said for a year now that if Ron DeSantis is the Republican nominee in ’24, I’ll vote for him in a heartbeat (which would mark the first time I DIDN’T vote for a third party candidate). And headlines like this are exactly why.
The governor of Free-ida (please don’t make that a thing, it’s terrible) just signed into law a bill that eliminates the requirement for a permit to carry a concealed firearm. That makes Florida the 26th state to have permitless carry, which means that the majority of states now actually respects the second amendment.
CAN I GET A HELL YEAH?!
As if we needed more proof that Florida is the place to be. The weather is amazing (or so I’m told; I don’t agree, but I also thought Iceland’s climate was primo), the state income tax is nonexistent, and the government actually recognizes its citizens’ rights. I hate that that makes it remarkable, but thus is life in this post-Harambe world.
And Floridians have no delusions about how great they have it– DeSantis won his reelection by almost 20 points, and his approval rating now is even higher than it was then. The state’s not perfect, by any means, and I’d advise caution in beatifying DeSantis (or anyone), but examples are being set. The rest of the country would do well to follow.

HELL YEAH and AMEN!
I just had a Vietnam veteran, (of all people!) tell me that the Second Amendment only applied to when America was under attack from the British, but not today. He also said that people shouldn’t be owning several guns. He’s as bad as a couple of boneheads at another conservative website who said that women shouldn’t be using or owning guns and he’s as bad as the Klan creating gun control laws to prevent then-recently freed slaves from protecting themselves from angry, marauding Klansmonsters. Where’d he learn that balderdash from?!

When Alaska got CCW permits the liberals said there would be blood in the streets. No blood in the streets. Then they relaxed where CCW allowed carry, Liberals said blood in the streets. No blood in the streets. Then we got Constitutional carry. Liberals said there would be blood in the streets. No blood in the streets. The only people controlled by gun control are law abiding citizens. Criminals care less about laws, that is why they are criminals. As for short-barreled rifles and shotguns, to a criminal that wants one it is only a hacksaw away. For a law-abiding citizen it requires a federal permit and a $200 fee.
And between 10 and 14 months.
