Happy Monday, everyone. They’re going after our churches now:
What's happening to churches? pic.twitter.com/pdkTtU6Gsm

This is one of the reasons I’m not a fan of organized religion these days. I had a hard enough time finding a place to land spiritually before I moved to Texas, but it’s been equally difficult here. I don’t like flashy pastors, and I know I’ll get pushback for this – but I’m not even a fan of the rock bands who play 20 minutes before church services these days.
Nope. Not my style.
I just want to go to church, hear a good sermon, have my kid get something somewhat meaningful out of her Sunday school experience. I don’t want to see a dude in skinny jeans wearing Yeezys yammer on about politics or drag queens.
Cheong is so right to ask, “What is happening to churches?”
The wokeness is like a horrific infection, and so many of the churches out there had zero immunity. What a shame.

God help us. Everywhere are churches of all denominations joining the woke ideology to tell us everything is ok with God. It isn’t. Is it because they want people to come to church or they can’t make anyone feel guilty about anything or what? I was raised Catholic and am now joining a different Catholic Parish because the one I have attended for 20 years is now welcoming everyone and woke. They also tell me I have to accept all people coming over the border even if they are here illegally and are trafficking kids and drugs. Uh uh. No. Nope.
When I was eleven (1951) we moved to a house near an Assembly of God church. That is what my paternal grandmother attended and she took me there for Sunday school when we were visiting. My parents were not church people so I asked if I could go to Sunday school and worship there. With their OK, off I went. The second Sunday the pastor got me aside and said that I had to wear a coat and tie and that 10% of any money I got my grubby little hands on was to go in the collection plate. I figured that he was more interested in my wallet than my soul and never went back. As an adult in uniform, I found military chaplains quite the opposite. At age 36 I was baptized by a Catholic Bishop friend even though I told him that it would not make me Catholic. He was indeed a holy man, and my soul came first with him. After many pastors, some good, some not so good we got a liberal in the pulpit at our Church. It was confusing about whether I should worship God or worship him. I have been all over this world and always felt God with me. I decided to pray at home and have not been back. God is faithful, organized religion not so much.
Here is the verse he refers to:
Jesus said, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing” Matthew 23:37
If you take that to be an endorsement of DRAG, God help us.
Jesus also said he is the “Bread of Life”, the “Alpha and Omega”, and the Vine and we are the branches. I wonder how he interprets those. I think held woke views before he even read that verse and then feels like a stumbled upon a justification for it.
While he totally misinterprets the simile in Mathew 23: 37, this person probably should have read the rest of Mathew 23 as it is a warning to false religious leaders who lead others astray.
This person like the rest of us would do well to remember we all get a face-to-face meeting. And as pointed out in Hebrews 10:31: “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Fortunately, because of the cross we can be forgiven, if we ask and that face-to-face will then become a home coming celebration.
My last straw (even after the official position of my denomination was to support homosexuality) was when the preacher read a letter that came from the top officials of the denomination (with the support of top officials from other denominations) demanding that Trump be removed from office immediately because of his “January 6th” crimes. I actually walked out (and my soul isn’t in a position to do something like that).
They keep preaching “love love love” but they don’t understand that we as children of God have responsibilities (like not trying to “change” God to fit what we want him to be).
Well, I remember that my kids learned the definition of holy as being, “set apart, special, different from the norm”, so I’d say that they do fit that part of the definition of “different from the norm” — but no, that guy is NOT from God.
I like my very traditional Lutheran (not the kind that flies rainbow flags) service with liturgy, Bible texts and traditional hymns.
We gave up our church years ago (Episcopal) when they elected a practicing homosexual as Bishop and then started doing blessings on gay marriages. Our local church was staffed by a female priest, our Vestry chair was a practicing homosexual/wiccan-christian (WTF is that even?). They fully endorsed the “love is love” mindset and preached it on the regular. “Jesus hung out with sinners” they said. Yep. And he told’em to knock it off too. “Your sins are forgiven. Go and sin no more.”
The final straw was when our “priest” said Obama was exactly like Jesus and we should have all the respect in the world for him. We literally stood up mid-sermon, stared her down, and walked out. She never even called to check on the “missing sheep in the flock” who left with us.
We still haven’t found a place where we feel like it’s truly respectful and faith-filled. Mega-churches with their rock bands are a turn off. I don’t want to be entertained.
Wiccan-Christian? Christianity is directly opposed to Wicca. That’s like trying to be a car driver and a pedestrian at the same time.
