Y’all, a guy a follow on Twitter posted a poll yesterday, and when I read the possible answer choices, none of them fit, so I made a suggested 4th choice. I haven’t voted in the poll, so I can’t see what the results look like until it ends, so I have no idea how the Actual Poll is going.
But the fights that it has led to in my feed are just MIND BLOWING. People apparently REALLY NEED for me to be able to answer Yes or No to this question.

There are people all over the political spectrum angry with me for suggesting another choice. Here’s just one fight in a SEA of many.

I responded to that by saying, “Except I didn’t say that. YOU DID.” And then before I could screenshot my reply KanYiddish had nuked the entire exchange.
Typical.
But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Just click on this entire thread and take a gander at the insanity of the replies.
There needs to be a 4th choice: "I'm neither proud nor ashamed of the amount of melanin in my skin – a characteristic which is completely out of my control and which has nothing to do with who I am as a person."

Here’s another wild one:

The silver lining of all of these Twitter fights is that stupid people show up on these threads and show themselves, making it really easy to block them and get rid of the riff raff. 🙂

I’m proud that I have excellent balance when riding a horse without a saddle!
More on topic…I think Martin Luther King is rolling in his grave.
Unfortunately, our use of the language has degenerated. Virtually no one uses words according to their long-established meanings. To add insult to injury, the shamans of the Left perpetually tell us we CAN’T use this or that word, no matter how long it’s been in common use, because it’s “offensive” — and far too many people are far too averse to confrontation to flip them off and do as they please!
No kidding! The young today have such poor vocabularies they have to make up things to try to express themselves. They also have no understanding of history or civics. They do not know about a dictionary or thesaurus. But they are whiz kids at video games.
One of the interesting things in those who decry white supremacy is the context and the language they use. It often looks as if they are using the term when they really mean white superiority. They are really racist to the bone. Fact: there are white racists, there are black racists, there are native American racists and there are Asian racists. Did I leave anyone out?
They just can’t see that they’re the ACTUAL RACISTS.
I’ll tell you why. It’s argued that black people are incapable of being racists. I beg to differ, I’m surrounded by black racists. My sister always has something snotty to say about the people at the predominantly white church I’ve been attending for nearly thirty years; never mind that I was treated like crud at the black church my family was supposedly members of, but rarely attended. My racist black militant aunt didn’t want us to know about our Scottish/white maternal great-grandfather. Plus, there’s the grief I caught about my daughter’s white father when I was dating him, including some people telling me to get an abortion when I was pregnant. If it’ll make you feel better, I don’t think Scaredy Cat and X-Rated likes me, either and I think they’re both racist to the bone.
I will wager that the congregation treats you with respect and is happy to have you. I would not be surprised that some around you describe you as too white and other uncomplimentary terms. How are you? We just got back from Texas just in time to catch the last cold spell in Alaska.
Welcome back and it’s great hearing from you! You’re absolutely right about the utter kindness I get from my church family that I didn’t get from the “black” church. I was mistreated by the youth group at the latter church on top of being shunned and bullied by black schoolmates; the friends I have now are from church and the homeschool support group we belonged to. My now-retired pastor told me that his children and grandchildren look up to me. A deacon’s wife told me that I’m an inspiration to her. What’s more, both the pastor and deacon have black grandchildren. I do get hammered a lot about “acting white”. If being black is about being perpetually bitter and other negativity like Scaredy Cat and X-Rated are, I want NO part of it. At another conservative website, a poster wrote those who say that I’m “acting/being white”, are ascribing inferiority to themselves. I’ve never thought about that. Such individuals have lost hope and are merely lashing out.
I don’t get that (what I assume is a) woman’s point. “There’s a lot about our genetics we can’t control. Why not take pride in it?” Like, how does that even make sense? For me, I’m proud of being able to get into the Army. I’m proud of earning a college degree. Taking pride in something I cannot change or control is the ultimate participation award. “I did nothing! I’m special!”
You’re white?! Gee, I never noticed it, all I see is another awesome fellow American! What part of “Content of character” doesn’t those discontented characters understand? I resent them telling me that I am supposed to live up to the perpetual victim persona they attempt to ascribe to black Americans, just because of who I am. We have absolutely no control over how much melanin God gave when creating us, it makes us neither superior nor inferior, just precious in His sight ❤💛🖤🤍🤎. In the cases of the individuals in the pictures posted by Scaredy Cat, they’re black albinos, who have NO melanin and it occurs in people of ALL ethnicities. Case in point is white musicians, Edgar and Johnny Winter. Xavier and Scaredy Cat seem to have issues and you handled them well, Mock.
All of this nonsense started when everything related to humans became “who” instead of “what.” Our language has been warped to create tension, confusion and inevitably conflict.
