We missed our anniversary yesterday, so we’re celebrating today. Actually, we’re going to be celebrating all week, because we’ll be traveling to Washington, DC to attend CPAC and hang out together at our mother-ship with our Radio America peeps.
It’s been 14 years since we did our inaugural post, starting a journey that I never realized would have brought us to this point in our lives. It sounds corny, but looking back, it’s been like a bunch of serendipitous events sewn together into this amazing, colorful quilt. We’ve had ups and downs – SO many more of the ups, and at the end of 14 years, I can honestly say that I’m exactly where I am supposed to be. Seriously, y’all, I get to work with my best friend every day – how lucky am I?

I remember sitting in that Mexican restaurant with Mock all those years ago, saying to her, “Hey, we should start a political blog….” And when we started that blog, I would go home after my (second) day job every day and pray that we’d get a radio gig.
It didn’t take long before God answered that prayer. And then some.
Mock and I have done weekend radio, drive-time radio, written a book, written a newspaper column, done speaking engagements, television, and now we’re podcasters. If you would’ve told me twenty years ago that I would be in the position I am today? I would’ve laughed in your face. And this is why life is so delicious.

Despite people trying to change who we were and how we went about our business, we’ve always remained authentically ourselves and true to our brand, and I’m certain that’s made all the difference. Sure – we’re not one of the “big guys,” but we never aimed to be. We merely wanted to reach people. We’ve always been sort of the Mamas-for-the-misfits, really – we’ve been a refuge, of sorts, for the people who felt like they didn’t really fit in anywhere in the conservative landscape. We’re a place where people could take their shoes off and put their feet up, and we always strived to have a genuine, interactive community. I speak for both of us when I say that our community is what we’re most proud of – it’s not the radio, or the book, or the speaking engagements.

It’s our merry band of people, befriending one another, loving one another, supporting one another. Praying for one another. When I hear that another friendship has been formed because of our community? My heart overflows.
That’s the good stuff, y’all.
We’re so grateful for all of you. For the laughter and the camaraderie. For 14 freaking amazing years of support through some crazy stuff.
Happy Anniversary to us. Cheers to the next 14.

I can’t believe I forgot to put up my COTR tree. Oh well, I can still celebrate with the traditional drink of Chicks Day- vodka.
I am so glad that I am able to go on your amazing journey with you. You ladies make my mornings bright, even if I can’t catch you live I always always always listen at some point during the day. You are a great big bunch of sunshine to my days. I love that you keep me up on all things political, but you do it in a way that doesn’t make me want to pull my hair out. Thanks for all you do and keep doing the work it is so important. Love you both.
