February 5, 2023The Soul Surfer herself, Bethany Hamilton, has some words for the World Surf League. The league has decided that transgender women, aka men, are able to compete in women’s events, and she is not OK with it. Hamilton raises a lot of valid points, and has decided that she will no longer be competing in the league as long as this rule is still in place.
She is very spot on when it comes to how this has worked out in other sports. In that, it hasn’t. Look at how similar rules have started to ruin women’s swimming. If they want to create a separate transgender category, fine. Go for it. But stop ruining women’s sports. Can someone please tell me where all the feminists are fighting for actual women!? Good for Bethany Hamilton for speaking up and being a voice for all female athletes.

Why, there is already an open category for almost everything. It’s the “Men’s”. Almost everywhere, you can compete up, you just can’t compete down. Any woman with a 100 mph fastball could be signed with the Seattle Mariners today, but no guy, no matter how bad, should be able to sign with the Grand Rapids Chicks. I’ve found it all the more interesting as our society spirals out of control based around what seems to be a very poor understanding of what is actually present. We tend to use a lot of shorthand because a lot of concepts needn’t be said at the time as the information was just understood by those parties involves and sadly we now have people who don’t understand trying to tell us how things work and being blatantly wrong about it.
I hope other real women do the same.
