Bad news: China is getting so ballsy they’re sending spy balloons over the U.S.
Good news: The Visit Myrtle Beach social media manager has a great sense of humor.
Before we get to the funnies, lets backtrack a little bit to set the scene.
January 28 –Danger balloon from our BFF Xi Jinping enters U.S. airspace for the first time. Then later floats its way to Canada to check up on how the moose are doing.
January 31 – Chinese luftballoon returns to U.S. airspace because we’re way more interesting than Canada. 💁♀️
February 1 – Biden stops eating ice cream and losing classified documents long enough to realize this is a problem. He orders the balloon to be shot down “as soon as possible.” Then he took a nap.
February 4 – Balloon is shot down off the coast South Carolina. “The Pentagon has said the high-altitude balloon was being used for surveillance, disputing China’s claim that it was a civilian aircraft used for meteorological purposes,” ABC News reported. Shocker, China can’t be trusted.
The balloon was also hella large. In terms of weight, “hella large” = “the size of three buses.”
This leads us to the star of our story: Visit Myrtle Beach (@MyMyrtleBeach), a social media page which provides travel tips for the area.
Hey, did anyone lose a big white balloon? #ChineseSpyBalloon #myrtlebeach

This balloon is pretty fancy. If anyone asks, It’s sitting in our lost and found. Let us know the camera’s access code so we can verify it’s yours. #ChineseSpyBalloon #myrtlebeach

My favorite:
Thanks to everyone’s help, we figured out the password to the camera and have downloaded the photos to attempt to identify the owner. Whoever it is, they’ve been on one heck of a trip. They captured an amazing pic of the SkyWheel, the Boardwalk, and Area 51. #chinesespybaloon

Thanks, @BuzzFeed ! We're just over here wondering if the finders keepers rule applies to high-tech cameras recovered from big balloons. #ChineseSpyBalloon https://t.co/XuGhngLS02

We might be on the brink of WWIII with one of our archnemeses, but at least we got some chuckles out of the situation.
