At first I thought, SURELY this woman is mistaken. And she SORTA is, because she’s conflating social security with SSI. But it’s true that Ukrainian refugees get SSI. In fact, refugees from a multitude of countries get it.
The link has all kinds of helpful information for refugees. Like these pointers.
- Depending on the state a refugee goes to, they could be paid over $900 per month per single person or up to $1371 for a married couple.
- Those Ukrainians who aren’t of retirement age can other financial support through TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), they’ll have medical insurance coverage through Medicaid, AND they can get food stamps as well.
I’m telling you this simply because it’s one more thing our tax dollars are funding that you may have not realized.

Well, that is one cut they can make to shore up SSI and help with the deficit, to boot. You should have to be an AMERICAN FLIPPING CITIZEN, who’s paid into the system to get those benefits.
