Gen Z Women State They’d Rather Have The Right To Abortion Over the Right To Vote

For most of my life I would have told you that I was an anti-feminist.  I don’t want to be lumped in with the extreme feminist women that fight for abortion, burn bras in the streets, and tell men they’re garbage.  I have a lot of thoughts on the equality of men and women and the whole feminist movement. (Spoiler alert, I don’t think we should be completely equal.  Because men and women are different and have different strengths and abilities.  But that’s another rant for another time.)  However, I have come to the realization that I am more likely a first-wave feminist.  In that, I am thankful for women like Susan B. Anthony who fought for my right to vote.  I love that I have a right to vote, I take it very seriously, I vote in any election I can, and I research the crap out of the candidates before making that vote.   I wouldn’t trade that right for anything, especially not abortion.

CJ Pearson went to the Santa Monica Pier the other day to ask Gen Z women whether they would prefer the right to vote or the right to abortion.  The answers are not really surprising, but super disheartening.

I know this is only a select group of women, but it’s so very sad.  The last comment really upset me.  She states that she would want the right to abortion over the right to vote because there was no baby food available.  She’s basically saying that she would kill her child because of the formula shortage…that the Biden admin caused/did nothing about.  There is so much to unpack there.  First of all, I guarantee she voted for the party that caused that shortage.  If you do your research and you vote for the right people, this wouldn’t be an issue.  Secondly, the fall back of just killing your baby because life is hard, or you can’t afford it, or the government sucks is sickening.  This is just like Stacey Abrams saying that you should be able to kill your baby because inflation.  It’s disgusting. 

I can rant about feminism and abortion all day, so I’ll stop now.  But can we just agree that if abortions have to be a thing, they should be safe, and only when necessary (which I would argue is never, but that’s just me), and not just because you don’t want to be pregnant?
