To no one’s surprise, people are finally becoming aware of the data about the very real damage that puberty blockers are doing to young bodies. This is especially alarming considering puberty blockers are routinely touted by activist physicians as a quick fix for confused or mentally ill teens, with physicians promising that they simply “pause” or “suspend” puberty until the teen can decide what gender they really want. They make it seem like you then simply allow puberty to resume as is natural or you chemically transition your body with no ill effects whatsoever from the puberty pause.
Unfortunately, it looks like it’s more than a simply “pause.” It appears puberty blockers doing potentially irreversible damage to these developing young bodies. And not a single person is surprised to hear this. Even the New York Times published an article titled, “They Paused Puberty, but Is There a Cost? Puberty blockers can ease transgender youths’ anguish and buy time to weigh options. But concerns are growing about long-term physical effects and other consequences.” In the article they admit that “there is emerging evidence of the potential harm from using blockers, according to reviews of scientific papers and interviews with more than 50 doctors and academic experts around the world.” When even the radical woke leftist New York Times is admitting that puberty blockers might be dangerous, then you KNOW there are some concerns.
Did you know that Sweden, Finland, and the UK no longer prescribe puberty blockers to minors due to safety concerns that need to be assessed? And a major review out of the UK which questions the safety of puberty blockers in children has rightly caused concern in American medical circles. The New York Times article explains some of the concerns, saying,
“During puberty, bone mass typically surges, determining a lifetime of bone health. When adolescents are using blockers, bone density growth flatlines, on average, according to an analysis commissioned by The Times of observational studies examining the effects.”
Physicians have hoped that this bone density growth would rebound after blocker use is stopped. Instead, the NYT explains that “many do not fully rebound and lag behind their peers.”
“That could lead to heightened risk of debilitating fractures earlier than would be expected from normal aging – in their 50s instead of 60s – and more immediate harm for patients who start treatment with already weak bones, experts say.
‘There is going to be a price,’ said Dr. Sundeep Khosla, who leads a bone research lab at the Mayo Clinic. ‘And the price is probably going to be some deficit in skeletal mass.’
‘The most difficult question is whether puberty blockers do indeed provide valuable time for children and young people to consider their options, or whether they effectively ‘lock in’ children and young people to a treatment pathway,’ wrote Dr. Hilary Cass, a pediatrician leading an independent review in England of medical treatments of adolescents presenting as transgender.”
Puberty blockers have not been thoroughly studied or approved for longer-term use in children, generally only being used short-term in early-onset puberty cases. But now that we’re really looking, we’re seeing alarming rates of bone density loss in kids on puberty blockers. I wonder what else we’ll find now that we’re actually looking. And by the time the public gets to know all the devastating and potentially permanent damage that is done by puberty blockers, how many young bodies will have been permanently damaged with false promises of an easy puberty pause?

There are at least 2 studies with this whole “gender affirmation” stuff that I’ve never seen.
1) Giving them more of their natal hormones. A majority of kids stop with this nonsense at puberty, increasing natal hormone levels might have a positive effect but I could find no studies on the matter.
2) Double blind test for puberty blockers. I have a strange suspicion that it’s a placebo effect instead of an actual effect from the treatment. It’s not what is being done but merely that something is being done that is making them feel better. The fact that the desistance rate drops to 0 after treatment and that cases of regret later in life are on the rise is a good warning sign that this is at least worth investigating.
