I recently saw a medical specialist with my son. The office was empty but for us and a receptionist behind glass, and yet they required both of us to wear masks while in the empty waiting room, which is completely unscientific and illogical. Then the doctor was double masked with a full plastic face shield on top. And y’all, I could not take her seriously. How could I possibly take her seriously as a medical ‘professional’ when she clearly disregards masking data and clearly buys into political agendas and narratives?
As for the average person, I still see people wearing masks unnecessarily. Like in the car by themselves, walking down the sidewalk by themselves, riding a bike… It’s ridiculous. I automatically assume they are a moron because they clearly don’t understand basic scientific principles about germs or masks, and they simply follow orders like a compliant little social soldier. But there are really people out here arguing for masking FOREVER. It’s a hard pass for me. But let me tell you about these people.
The New Yorker just published an astounding article titled, “The Case For Wearing Masks Forever; A ragtag coalition of public-health activists believe that America’s pandemic restrictions are too lax–and they say they have the science to prove it.” I really had no idea how astounding it would be, but right off the bat, I notice they said “public-health activists.” At least they’re admitting that they’re activists and not pretending like they’re professionals of any sort, and that does give me an initial feel for what I’m about to get into in the article. And sure enough, at the beginning of paragraph two, they tipped their hand. While discussing Mindi Thompson Fullilove who they describe as “a professor of urban policy and health at the New School,” The New Yorker feels the need to just make sure you know the color of the professor’s skin by saying, “Fullilovem, who is Black…”
Ah, I see. The color of a cited professor’s skin only matters if this is a radical woke activist article where identity politics are mixed with whatever they call “science.” So now we know.
Then they get into the making of this “ragtag coalition of academics, doctors, activists, and artists who believe that the government has left them to fend for themselves against COVID-19.” Wait, ARTISTS? Academics, doctors, and activists I totally understand because a whole heck of a lot of academics and doctors are also activists. But ARTISTS are part of this ragtag coalition that they’re calling “People’s C.D.C.?” Apparently, Fullilove, who is Black (in case you forgot), sent an email to a group of “progressive public-health practitioners” asking, “Can we have a people’s CDC and give people good advice?” You read that right. Progressive public-health practitioners. And thus was born “People’s C.D.C.”
You know what’s funny? I’ve asked myself the exact same question. Can we have people’s CDC and give people good advice rather than the hyper partisan, ultra political, bought-and-paid-for pseudoscientific advice that our current CDC has been handing out?
The New Yorker explains that “the People’s C.D.C have made it their mission to distribute information about the pandemic—what they see as real information, as opposed to what’s circulated by the actual C.D.C. They believe the C.D.C.’s data and guidelines have been distorted by powerful forces with vested interests in keeping people at work and keeping anxieties about the pandemic down.” Y’all, I would say EXACTLY the same thing except for the VERY LAST WORK, which I would change to “up.” I’d say they’re keeping anxieties about the pandemic UP. But you know what happens to non-radical-woke-leftist-activists like me when we try to give “real information, as opposed to what’s circulated by the actual C.D.C.” the way they do? We get censored as a dangerous medical misinformationist! The only reason they’re allowed to give information inconsistent with the CDC is because their info is more extreme, which actually serves the reigning narrative and agenda of the CDC. But any information we give that is inconsistent with the CDC is considered dangerous medical misinformation because it doesn’t serve the narrative and agenda. It’s a disgusting double standard.
Honestly, the article just gets worse and worse. After showcasing the blatant double standard of COVID information censorship, the group’s meeting facilitator, Edgar Rivera Colón, explained that the group has at least “some moral support” from actual CDC workers. Check out the word he uses to describe this support: “We have comrades that are within the C.D.C. who are saying to us, ‘Go ahead with your bad selves.’”
Y’all. COMRADES. I mean, tell me you’re a radical quasi-communist organization without telling me you’re a radical quasi-communist organization, am I right?
Then you have more incredible commentary by the New Yorker explaining that the People’s C.D.C. “volunteers don’t necessarily agree among their bad selves about what, exactly, their larger goal is—whether their project is a protest, an act of mutual aid, or an exercise in shadow governance. What’s clear is that the People’s C.D.C. interprets evidence about this stage of the pandemic, and what we should do about it, differently than the C.D.C. and the White House. Their goal is to provide the public with an alternative source of information.”
Hold up, “shadow governance” might be a goal? Also, can we talk again about how many people have been silenced for interpreting “evidence about [any] stage of the pandemic, and what we should do about it, differently that the CDC and the White House?” Can we talk about how many people’s goal as been to “provide the public with an alternative source of information,” just like this group, and they were all SILENCED BY BIG TECH AND THE GOVERNMENT as conspiracy theorists and misinformationists? You’re GOT to be kidding me.
At this point I’m literally only HALF WAY through the article and I simply just cannot anymore. You can read it yourself here if you want to experience rage. But I’ll leave you with this gem. Apparently, the People’s C.D.C.’s media team organizer said that “a lot of anti-mask sentiment is deeply embedded in white supremacy.” Could we possibly have expected anything else of this article or this organization? You don’t want to wear a mask because scientific data says that mass mask wearing does not substantively impact COVID transmission or contraction? Then you’re a white supremacist! They even go as far as to say that “the CDC’s policies are eugenic,” with the New Yorker noting that “eugenic policies have a long and ugly history, commonly associated with the Nazis, white supremacists, and others who advocate the racial purification of humanity.” So if you don’t want to wear a mask, you’re a white supremacist, and if the CDC doesn’t force you to wear a mask, they’re Nazi eugenicists. Got it.
What lunatics.

I have never worn a mask, I never will and all the little commies that think they can force me can just duck off.
