Canada is a world leader in medically-assisted suicide, and they recently expanded their laws regarding euthanasia to include people who are not terminally ill and people who suffer from mental illnesses. There are even some advocates to allow minors who make a sufficiently compelling argument for their own death to obtain a physician-assisted suicide. But now, not only is medial suicide being increasingly legalized in Canada, but it’s also being celebrated and advertised. Well known fashion retailer from Quebec, La Maison Simons, is being criticized for a three-minute film he funded that basically glorifies suicide.
Canadian clothes retailer Simons is actually using suicide to market their products.

No, this isn’t made up. It’s part of a sweeping effort to introduce medically assisted suicide as a treatment for mental illness, PTSD and even children with defects in Canada. pic.twitter.com/LdTH8fLq9I
I’m not at all surprised by this. In fact, I see it as the necessary progression of both the transgenderism movement and the authoritarianism movement. Transgenderism says that if you feel unhappy or your life is hard then you’re probably trans and you should permanently mutilate your body because that will definitely make you happy. And the necessary progression is that if that doesn’t make you happy, then you should definitely be able to kill yourself if that’s what you think will make you happy.
As for the authoritarianism movement, consider how much cheaper it is for an authoritarian government to just help someone kill themselves rather than to help them get proper treatment, especially when it comes to mental illness. Think of all the war vets suffering from PTSD. Maybe the government just runs an ad campaign targeting suffering vets so they can help them kill themselves rather than making sure they get the treatment and resources they need to be healthy and happy. So much cheaper and faster. Interestingly, that’s the EXACT same rationale for major corporations providing financial support to women who want abortions. It’s so much cheaper and faster for them to help you kill your baby than for them to help you get the treatment and resources you need to carry, birth, and raise a child. And for an authoritarian government who wants to control healthcare, it seems only financially responsible to promote the much cheaper option of helping people kill themselves than to fund proper healthcare for everyone.
But where does it end? For example, obesity-related conditions are the most expensive and burdensome medical conditions in this country. Would an authoritarian government go as far as to run euthanasia ad campaigns targeting unhappy and disabled obese people who they might consider more of a social burden than a social/economic asset? It would free up significant medical resources and infrastructure and be way cheaper than the approximately $190 billion that obesity-related conditions cost the U.S. healthcare system each year. What about disabled adults? What about disabled children? I know this all sounds heartless and horrifying, and that’s because it is. But this is the slippery slope of euthanasia. This is where things are headed.
