I fully understand that your instinct might be to shrug and say, “Who cares? It’s just a stupid beauty pageant.”
But those of you who have seen Miss Congeniality know that it is far more than that– it is a SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. Historically, Miss America has provided opportunities for women to travel, educate themselves, and take a platform for social change. You know, things that were generally reserved for men in the 1920’s.
And now, a hundred years later, it’s apparently time to give that back to men.

Brían Nguyen (Bree-ANN, not BRY-an) became the first transgender individual to win the Miss Greater Derry Scholarship Program, which awards “scholarships to young women between the ages of 17 and 24 living in the Greater Derry area recognizing their outstanding achievements in scholastic aptitude, talent, character, community service and poise.”
On Instagram, Nguyen posted a video of her win, in which her fellow contestants can be seen grinning and clapping for her. Poise, indeed.
As a side note, all things considered. . . Maybe Nguyen should refrain from referring to what’s “up [her] sleeves.” Just a thought.
So, it turns out the misogyny we THOUGHT plagued beauty pageants is very different from the misogyny that ACTUALLY plagues beauty pageants. Whereas we all suspected an element of objectification, the issue was erasure all along!
The worst part is that Nguyen’s fellow contestants are active participants in their erasure. They are having opportunities unfairly taken from them (because we all know if Nguyen didn’t win, Miss America would be fielding accusations of transphobia left and right), and they are happy to hand them off. Will they have any regrets when their daughters have been robbed of every right and privilege they ought to have had as women? Will they realize their complacency paved the road down which the bulldozer of equity traveled to crushed the natural borders that once delineated what makes females so uniquely powerful?
I’m not saying it’s all their fault, but it is a little bit. And it will be a little bit their fault when, by 2025, we start seeing biologically male models walking in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. I’m calling it now. Start preparing the eye bleach.

Brian must have blown the “talent” portion of this scholarship competition away, because he sure isn’t the prettiest one in that picture.
And I agree with all the other comments: This was a statement and the girls are being cheated.
Victoria Secret already has one – back in 2018, as I recall. Look up Valentina Sampaio. At least he’s pretty.
Please, allow me to correct that headline for “truth in advertising”:
Obese, Ugly, Mentally Ill, Biological Male Wins Local Miss America Pageant
There, all better now!!!
Are we sure this was Derry, New Hampshire and not Derry, Maine?
Not having watched the contest, I can obviously only base an assessment on appearance. But based on that picture alone, I would say pretty much EVERYONE else in the pageant was more deserving of the title than he was (and yes, I refuse to call him “she”). There are some lovely young women in that picture, and I feel sad for them, not only that they’ve had this achievement stolen from them, but also, as Rachel pointed out, that they have been so brainwashed by woke nonsense that they’ve become willing participants in their own erasure.
If there was such a thing as a pageant for men and they started with 100 contestants I know this guy would be the first to be kicked off.
Obviously, the intent was not to crown the most deserving contestant, but to make a grand political statement. And that statement was “We’re more woke than you’ll ever be.”
Our country’s escalator to Hell continues at break-neck speed.
Not only has a deluded male won this contest, he got away with being an overweight contestant. When will the other contestants realize that they’ve been cheated?
