Kathy Griffin Gets Suspended From Twitter For Impersonating Elon Musk

For years, conservatives have been so frustrated at Twitter’s double standard for hateful or violent conduct that leads to suspensions, often pointing to a tweet by “comedian” Kathy Griffin in which she is holding the severed and bloody head of Donald J. Trump. She was allowed to share this photo multiple times on Twitter.

It was so frustrating to watch her account remain after that and many other inappropriate tweets, while conservatives were locked out of their account for daring to call a man a man, which Twitter claimed was violent and hateful. But Kathy Griffin is apparently no longer held to a different standard. She changed her Twitter handle and photo to be identical to Elon Musk’s, and then started making political posts encouraging people to “vote blue,” making it appear as though this was voting advice from Elon Musk. As a verified user with millions of followers, her tweets had a fair amount of reach, and Elon was not going to have any of it.

At 2:53 PM, Elon Musk tweeted that “going forward,” accounts impersonating people without specifying that they are “parody” accounts will be “permanently suspended.” Catturd, a popular conservative commentator, responded that it “should apply to the Hollywood crowd just like us average Joes,” to which Elon responded, “No exceptions.”

Lo and behold, almost immediately, Elon Musk nuked Kathy Griffin’s account all the way to Mars. Impersonation of individuals has always been against the terms of service for Twitter, but violators were previously given a warning before suspension.
