Usually, it’s hugely helpful for a sitting president to campaign with you ahead of an important election. It’s the biggest possible endorsement and usually draws a much larger crowd. But that’s not the case with Joe Biden. People have no interest in coming to see him, so he doesn’t draw a crowd. And his appearances usually end up causing more damage than anything else as they generate new gaffe clips. So the Democrats have realized that it’s probably best if Joe sits this one out.
Instead, they had First Lady Jill Biden, Joe’s primary handler, out campaigning for Democrat candidates this weekend. She spent Saturday in New Hampshire with Senator Maggie Hassan facing Republican don Bolduc in a very tight race, and then spent Sunday in various parts of New York State. But Joe stayed home, probably enjoying ice cream cones in his basement with his granddaughter Natalie, when he wasn’t fondling her breast and kissing her on the mouth for the cameras.
