In an important debate, the Michigan Democrat gubernatorial candidate, incumbent Gretchen Whitmer, and the Republican candidate, Tudor Dixon, clashed regarding COVID school closures in the state. At the podium, Whitmer either blatantly lied or legitimately has no idea what’s been going on in her state. She said that “Mrs. Dixon says I kept students out longer than any other state. That’s just not true… kids were out for 3 months.”

Honey, THAT’S just not true. Those Michigan kids were NOT out of school for 3 months. In fact, 8 months after having initially closed Michigan schools, Whitmer closed them again, permitting only “remote learning” in all Michigan high schools.

Yet in tonight’s debate, Whitmer said schools were only closed for 3 months.

In fact, some kids weren’t able to go back to school until February of 2022!

Tudor Dixon calls her out by jokingly saying that there was probably an “audible gasp around town” when Whitmer claimed kids were only out of school for 3 months. She says,
“This is shocking to me that she thinks that schools were only closed for 3 months. Or maybe she thinks she can convince you that schools were only closed for 3 months. But you know better because your students are the ones that are desperately behind.”
Gretchen Whitmer is so out of touch with what she did to our students, she thought they were locked out for only 3 months. Some were out of the classroom as late as this year and she did nothing. In just 14 days, we can begin to right her wrongs. #VoteDixon pic.twitter.com/h4gUJ5173I

Perhaps what Whitmer is really doing is splitting hairs. Her executive order closing schools was effective March 12, 2020 through the end of school in mid June, which is perhaps the 3 months she’s talking about. But then she implemented state COVID policies and mandates that either forced or encouraged the schools to close for much longer, sometimes for weeks or months at a time. So the schools were still closed and she was still responsible, if not by executive order specifically closing schools. So for her to very specifically say that “kids were out for 3 months” is simply a blatant lie. It would have been misleading, although technically true if she had said, “my original executive order closing schools only lasted 3 months.”
Yes, Whitmer is hoping you’ll forget about what she did during COVID. She’s hoping you’ll forget locking your kids out of schools and killing grandparents in nursing homes. She’s hoping that if she simply pretends like she did nothing bad, then you’ll forget about all the bad stuff she did.

I live in Michigan and can attest that Witch-mer is lying through her fangs about the length of the school closures under her watch. Not only that, she curtailed Memorial Day, 2020 celebrations, yet, her husband attempted to line-jump at a dock to launch their boat, by playing the “Governor’s Husband” card. He was told to wait in line with everyone else, since he wasn’t anyone special. Whitmer forbade travel and gatherings with a certain number of people, yet was seen with several other people at a restaurant, (unmasked at that!) and flew to Florida for a “family emergency” involving her father. It’s the “Rules for thee, not for me” song and dance. A silver lining from the school closures is some parents deciding to stick to homeschooling after being thrust into it. It’s possible their children did better than when they were in the classroom 📚. It’s imperative that we conservatives get to the polls in full force this November 8th and the 2024 Presidential election to oust Gretchen Whitmer, Joe Biden and other leftists that’s ruining us. I can’t say it enough.
She flew to FL on a private jet also, paying only a fraction of the cost herself.
She blasted people protesting her lock-downs one week and the next week participated in the BLM protest.
She used zero science in determining which business to close down. Pot shops that were just legalized were considered “essential”.
When Whimer first took office she wanted a 43-cent gas tax to pay for her “fix the roads” campaign pledge.
